Every pet is special, and every kind of pet has different needs. Mankind -being the resourceful species that we are; has come up with many pet products to meet their needs. Take chinchillas for example, these adorable rodents bathe themselves in a fine dust that resembles the volcanic ash that comprises a good portion of the soil in their native Andes Mountains. This chinchilla dust is something that no other pet uses, but every chinchilla needs to groom itself.

Or take dental care. Most rodents require a hard surface to grind down their incisors on. This is because almost all rodents’ incisors keep slowly growing throughout their life. There are a variety of pet products to meet this need, from chewable logs to treats.  Dental care for dogs on the other hand is an entirely different matter. Dog breath is synonymous with bad breath to us today, but a few simple steps can keep your dog from offending your nose. There are dental chews you can give your dog that will help scrub their teeth while the dog chews on them, and some breeds require you to actually brush their teeth for them!

Cats are self grooming, but they love things to play with. Much of a cat’s play mimics the behaviors a cat uses in hunting. They will bat things around with their paws, pounce on small objects, and stalk things in the room from a height. An essential cat product is the litter box. Cats need a place to use as a bathroom, and they want to bury their waste. Some cats can actually be toilet trained with the help of a cat-friendly toilet training kit.

Fish require more pet products than most just to stay alive. A tank filled with water is just the beginning. Fish need an underwater environment like the one they would naturally live in. This means a base filled with sand, small rocks, or glass beads. It also means larger objects for the fish to hide or sleep in. A water circulator needs to add air to the water so that the fish do not run out of oxygen. And of course there’s the food.
