Pet Carrier

Pet carriers are great for pets that cannot be trained to obey an owner’s commands and need to travel. For instance, no matter how well behaved your hamster is, it will not sit quietly next to you in the airport while you wait for your flight. They are also useful for pets that would cause anxiety in the general public. Take a pet boa constrictor for example, you may in fact be able to drape it over your shoulders and walk down a crowded street. The reaction you’d get if you did could get you a ticket for disturbing the peace however.

What you need in a pet carrier will largely depend on the kind of pet you own. If you own a fish, you’ll want enough water to keep it from suffocating during the trip. If a fish is going to be in the water for more than an hour or so you will need to set up a pump to re-oxygenate the water. If you have a reptile, it’s best to keep a cool, dark place for them during travel. These attributes will keep your reptile calmer and lower their activity rate during transport.

If you have a dog or cat there are a huge number of pet carriers available to you. Cat carriers are small enough to be picked up and carried and may contain barred windows to allow your cat to see out of them. The interior can be carpeted like an inside out scratching post to give the cat an outlet for excess energy while traveling and make them more comfortable.

Dog carriers come in all shapes and sizes. From tiny cases for Chihuahuas and Miniature Poodles to small sheds to transport a Great Dane, there is a case to fit the dog you have. Many are plastic to allow for easy cleaning if your dog decides to evacuate its bowels while you’re transport it; while others are glamorous affairs built for style rather than functionality.
